## What it's like to ride here

Marco rides like a grid of quiet island neighborhoods stitched together by four main corridors.

**North Collier Blvd** is the relaxed cruising stretch, with smooth paths linking Marco Town Center and the waterfront Esplanade Shoppes on Smokehouse Bay. Tigertail Beach is a short detour west via Kendall Drive and Hernando Drive.

**Bald Eagle Dr and S Heathwood Dr** form the quiet north-south corridor through the heart of the island, with bike lanes and a path. Mackle Park and the Marco Island Historical Museum sit toward the south end, Olde Marco and the Snook Inn at the north.

**San Marco Road** runs east past preserves and residential stretches with bike lanes. Before the bridge to the mainland, turn south on Goodland Drive and follow its path into Goodland, a small, colorful fishing village with waterside eateries and a lively weekend scene.

**South Collier Blvd** runs the resort coast, with wide, flat shared-use paths past the JW Marriott, Marco Walk Plaza, and the South Marco beach access. It's the most beginner-friendly riding on the island.

## Insider tips

Tigertail Beach is a Collier County park with a $10 parking fee for non-residents, and its lots fill early in season. On a bike you skip all of that. Across the lagoon is Sand Dollar Island, a favorite for shelling and birding, reached on foot when tides and conditions allow.

Residents' Beach on South Collier is private, for Marco Island Civic Association members. The public way onto the island's famous crescent beach is the South Marco Beach Access, about a mile and a half further south.

Winterberry Drive connects South Collier to S Heathwood and S Barfield, opening up the quiet inland grid when the beach road gets busy.

The historic Captain John Foley Horr house, an 1870s tabby ruin, is inside the gated Key Marco community. It is fenced and seen from the street, and a gate fee may apply.

The City of Marco Island publishes a [bike path map](https://www.cityofmarcoisland.com/documents/our-government/board-and-committee/ad-hoc-bike-lanes-and-shared-paths-committee/bike-path-maps/768419) of lanes, shared-use paths, and beach access points. It's worth a look before a full island day.

## Marco Island's e-bike rules

> The island welcomes e-bikes and enforces its own rules (City Ordinance 25-06):
>
> - **12 mph maximum** on sidewalks and shared-use paths
> - **Pedal only inside city parks** such as Mackle Park; motor assist off
> - **Yield to pedestrians** and give an audible signal before passing
> - **No weaving through traffic** or leaving the road to skip a signal
> - **No modified motors**
>
> Florida law also requires a helmet for riders under 16.
